As a prospective patient, you may wonder about additional costs not included in the program fee. I know that you’ve likely been to other providers before that may have already run lab tests. That’s why during our comprehensive intake consultation, we will review any existing lab results — so we can determine if additional lab testing is needed. In terms of supplements, I only recommend  highly vetted and trusted supplements to support your body’s innate healing process. The goal will be to limit the number of supplements and only use them if necessary. Food asMedicine is the best approach to lifelong health.

During the discovery call, we’ll determine whether partnering together is the best next step for you. To have success in the program requires a readiness to change and a commitment to hard work. I will be your guide on this journey, but it’s up to you to do the day to day work that leads to life long success. We’ll go over any questions you may have about my approach, and how it differs from what you’ve tried before – so you feel comfortable about the journey ahead. Before we meet for your 90-minute appointment, you will submit through your patient portal,  extensive background history forms, and questionnaires. Depending on your history, I may spend an additional 2 hours before your appointment reviewing your information so it is critical that you answer all the forms I send to you thoroughly.  If you have a very complex medical history with a lot of labs/information that I need to review, I recommend uploading all of that to your patient portal before we meet so that I have time to review it.

During the appointment, we will review your completed intake forms, medical history, past lab tests, as well as any medications you are taking, so that we can arrive at a baseline assessment of your overall health and nutritional status. In addition, I will also perform an energy assessment. If you come to the office, you will have your body composition analyzed with my InBody body composition scanner to assess your lean muscle mass to fat ratio to help you better understand where you store excess fat and how predictive that pattern is to future chronic disease and inflammatory states.  We will review the results of your genetic analysis (that you will complete before we meet, if you choose to add this on). The genetic test is a separate fee and NOT included in the basic Awaken to Health visit charge. And finally, you will leave with a comprehensive set of handouts, educational materials, and an individualized health plan to take home for implementation.

No. Dr. Glow works as a functional medicine/integrative health consultation, shamanic practitioner and energy healer. She works in conjunction with your current health care team and is not considered a replacement for your primary care physician. She requires all new patients to have a primary care physician to cover emergencies and routine care and screening.

You are required to have a primary care clinician on file with our office when you enroll as a patient.

When clinics bill insurance companies directly, doctors are required to become participating providers. In general, insurance companies are not focused on any preventative or wellness services. They are heavily invested in the conventional model of health care that too often relies on drugs and surgery. At this time, insurance companies do not support physicians who provide integrative medicine, functional medicine, mind-body medicine, shamanic healing work or energy medicine. Insurance currently provides for the lowest amount of time spent with a patient, currently 7 to 15 minutes. My visits are 60 to 90 minutes.

This type of personalized medicine is not supported by our current insurance model and insurance will not pay for these types of visits. In addition, as mainstream medicine and insurance are typically 17 to 20 years behind in the research–the specialized, advanced laboratory offered to you in this clinic is often not covered by the insurance companies either. Some testing is covered by your insurance and whenever possible we will use insurance and you are welcome to turn in a superbill for any of your services to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Tests through LabCorp and Quest are typically reimbursed just as with your current PCP. And HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

In reality, patients must make a choice. Insurance reimbursed extremely brief office visits in other medical practices, or non-insurance reimbursed care with an integrative practitioner who takes the time needed to get to the root cause of their situation.
